I worked on one of these for a different company - took a self-pubbed novel (not my own), stripped it down to a scene-by-scene outline, figured out the "choices" (tricky, because there's no actual branching - different choices got different replies, but each choice led to the same following scene), and made a list of art assets/references/possible costumes for each character. It was an interesting exercise but the timelines were so tight that even with a fully-written novel to crib from I could not produce at the pace they demanded, and I would not be *in the least* surprised that this is one of the places where AI is being used *heavily*.

That's really interesting! I assumed these app must have some self-pub ability since the free Episodes app claims over 150,000 stories.
